The History
With its simple and clean architecture, Glashuset has been a landmark for Stockholm since 1955. The building was initially a gas station, designed by the acknowledged architect Peter Celsing in 1949 and was later on turned into a number of different business such as a tourist bureau, ice cream shop and pizzeria. After a few turns, it was finally time for it to transform into a real restaurant and brasserie with bars and patios.
The Exciting Future
The vision for the future is to build a new identical glass house next to Glashuset, with patios and openable panoramic windows along the quay and towards Stureplan. We want to build a roof terrace with a Champagne bar, with a view beyond the ordinary, and we also have a dream to expand on to our two pontoons, with more restaurants and bars in the future. Our ambition is for Glashuset to become Stockholm's, but also the visitors' destination and venue, a thriving oasis for everyone - casual or festive.
